The group grew out of a sketch sending up The Beatles at the Gordon Gaieties in 1964 and many hours of practice at Mrs Mills’ shop in Coppards Road.
They came second to The Huntsmen in the 1965 ‘Battle of the Sounds’ at the Geelong Theatre but the crowd made such a fuss that The In Group were sent to the final at Festival Hall as well.
Appeared in 1966 with top Melbourne performers in a charity concert at the Palais Theatre, St Kilda and attended the same venue the following night to see The Rolling Stones, The Searchers, Max Merritt & The Meteors etc.
