Geelong Musos’ Reunion Big Gig

The Geelong Musicians Reunion is an annual event that aims to promote the re-connection and friendship of Geelong musicians. The event is a celebration of the music and culture of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s in Geelong, and serves as a platform for musicians to reconnect with their fans and showcase their contributions to the Geelong music scene. The reunion is a great opportunity for musicians to collaborate, exchange ideas, and make new friends.

The criteria for the annual Geelong Musicians Reunion function is carefully crafted to ensure that the event is inclusive, fair and provides a platform for a diverse group of musicians. As you would expect, hosting an event on this scale needs some rules in place to assure it’s smooth running and the following apply (but may be modified with the committee’s approval);

  • bands must have been active during the period from the 1950s to the end of the 1980s, and at least ¾ of the band must include original members;

  • a maximum of 10 bands can perform on the night and, to ensure that different bands get a chance to perform, bands cannot perform more than 2 years in a row;

  • musicians cannot perform in more than 2 bands on the night; and,

  • bands must only be on stage performing for a maximum of 15 minutes so no 20 minute drum solos unfortunately.

The event also puts certain important items to tender each year, such as sound equipment hire, sound technicians, lighting equipment, lighting technician, sound recording, video recording, hall hire, catering, and security. This ensures that the event is run efficiently and effectively, and that the best quality service is provided to the attendees.

Overall, the Geelong Musicians Reunion is a great opportunity for musicians to reconnect and make new friends, and for fans to discover new musicians. It’s a celebration of the community and the power of music to bring people together and create lasting memories.
